Was the First Vision 200 years ago today?

Dear family and friends,

This is not my typical Book of Mormon blog post. I'm currently working on Enos - Words of Mormon and will have it ready in a couple of days.

I just thought I'd share with you the link to a very interesting YouTube video which proposes and supports with credible data the possibility that the First Vision occurred on March 26, 1820 - 200 years ago today!

If you are isolating at home from coronavirus and looking for something to fill the time, you may find this of interest. I hope it is ok to send this. I promise not to send information or links to items not directly related to the Book of Mormon, but I thought this was of sufficient credibility and interest to share with you.

Regardless if this is the anniversary of the actual date or not, what is important is that a young lad, Joseph Smith, Jr., in answer to his concern for forgiveness of his sins and wanting to know which church he should join, was visited by the Father and the Son in glorious vision opening the heavens to usher in the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times and begin the Restoration of the Gospel.

Have a good day!

Richard

  1. Thank you for sharing this fascinating account of the First Vision occurring on March 26th. I appreciate how you help us with caring out President Nelson's request to study the Restoration for this General Conference. Mark

  2. I have still been contemplating about last week reading as it pertinent to our current situation
Didn’t we all wrestle with the Lord this last Sunday as we petitioned the Lord in mighty prayers and fasting to abate the virulence of this terrible pestilence?

Regarding the Words of Mormon and the lost pages: we often think that the whole episode about Martin and ultimately Joseph losing the pages of Lehi’s record as a huge fiasco. However don’t you think that the Lord orchestrated this whole process involving ancient Prophets in order to teach Joseph the critical lesson he always Thereafter remembered: never to question the Lord’s revelatory commands even though they would jeopardize his own life ?
